Covid-19 Update:

We will be re-opening from 12th April. We ask that guests do not book more than 2 months in advance due to current uncertainties. We will be adding a 3 day buffer before and after each booking to allow time for cleaning. Remote check-in is available.

We offer one well-equipped self-catering holiday cottage, available all year round, set in the picturesque market town of Wirksworth, in the Derbyshire Dales, which offers an ideal base for exploring Derbyshire and the Peak District. The Peak Park has been popular with daytrippers since it was established in 1951 but there is so much more to see and do here than could possibly be fitted into a daytrip so why not come and stay in our cosy cottage and explore it thoroughly.

Due to the new enhanced cleaning regime, and for guests comfort and ease of movement around the cottage, we are not offering the sofa-bed facilities for the time being. Therefore the cottage currently sleeps 4 in bedrooms, not living spaces.

We are currently unable to provide a range of books or games for your entertainment, so please bring your own.

Short breaks and mid-week to mid-week bookings are available. See the 2020 price list for more information.

view of Wirksworth from Bole Hill

Wirksworth is an ancient town, mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1089 and granted its Market Charter in 1306. It served as the administrative centre for this area of Derbyshire until the late 19th Century. Full of quaint nooks and crannies waiting for you to explore, the town holds its traditional Well Dressing Festival every Spring Bank Holiday, and a very modern Arts and Architecture Festival in September. So why not join the elite band of explorers who have discovered Wirksworth and fallen in love with it. It's a fascinating place and makes a great base from which to explore the rest of our beautiful county.

Carsington Water is just up the hill to the west, the High Peak Trail runs across the northern edge of the town continuing for 17.5 miles deep into the Peak District, the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site is literally just the other side of the hill and that's before you even start to consider Chatsworth, Dovedale, Edale, Bakewell, The Matlocks........

Saddler's Cottage
Saddler's Cottage sleeps 4 and sits in the heart of the old town. It has an extremely well equipped kitchen for those who like to unwind by cooking, and a cosy sitting room with log burning stove. An odd shaped cottage, vaguely triangular, it exudes charm and character with it's beamed ceilings and original windows. It is conveniently situated for all Wirksworth's facilities and events. We manage this cottage on behalf of the owners. [More]
